Firt Aid Kit
why does everything good come from Sweden? It was actually my love of Swedish performer Fever Ray that led me to the amazingly talented sister act First Aid Kit. After telling a friend about fever ray, she came across a cover of the song “when i grow up.” She showed me some of their youtube videos and I was immediately mystified by the beautiful purity of the voices of both First Aid Kit sisters. I was excited to come across their name on lablogotheque’s takeaway show page. And this video certainly lived up to my expectations. I love the quote in the info paragraph from the girl’s papager [dad/manager]: “Is it not incredible to hear two sisters sing? Two voices so similar that they carry one another?” This couldn’t be more spot on, the resonance created when the two sing together just really takes you to another place all together.
Saturday
Video Overloaddddd
So being a townie/local/post graduate pre college/bumming/lazy/rotten/teenager all summer can lead to wayy to much drinking/partying/bumming/laze-ing/blaze-ing. Or it can lead to a movie about all of that. My friend Ryan and I co-wrote/co-directed this goofy lil film and produced it all summer. The end result is not even up to the low budget/charming quality of Kevin Smith, but it stars the people we love most and was a really great way to do something creative with the time we had at home. Enjoy!
Hi-Def Times
Newest video from Elmhurst IL's The Gnarwaals, for their SMASH hit Hi Def Times. Not only are these two charming gentlemen two of my favorite goofballs in the entire world, but the video (compiled by Gnar-drummer, ryan o-- and filmed by many more amazing people) is a collection of memories from my family of friends at home in Chicago. Ryan is going to be an amazing filmmaker one day and his best work (in my extremely biased opinion) are the pieces inspired by the times we all share together....SOOO CHEEEEESY O.M.GEE.
like a ghost
New music video for Small Black's Photojournalist, staring the one and only Cheyenne A-----. Don't know that I understand the concept, but the editing is siiick and its features one of my best friends, so its fantastic!
Wednesday
Sally Mann.

I took this picture a few years ago with my Holga camera. It's a frozen lake near my house. I was told that it was reminiscent of some of the landscapes of Sally Mann. I had no idea who she was at the time, but upon looking her up I was beyond flattered, to say the least.
I don't know much about photography, but I do know that these pictures are everything I love.
Her landscapes are beautiful, but I am even more taken by her portrait photography.
Pure, raw, real, innocent, natural, open, frozen moments in time completely unafraid. I dunno.. I got really excited. But I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Thursday
Bill, I love you so, I always will.
Upon turning in an assignment in my 3D design studio class recently, my teacher remarked that my work reminded him of an artist, though the name escaped him (as do many things.) But eventually he remembered and kindly sent me an email with his name and I was thrilled to discover Bill Woodrow... his stuff is siiiiiick.. CHECK IT OUTTTT!

I think I'll spend my weekend playing tricks on people,
Love,
LoShiShi.
